Bracknell Ice Skating Club Email Newsflash - January 2016
BISC are very
pleased to be able to announce two skating camps taking place during February
half term. Details about the costs as well as an on-line booking form will
follow shortly but, in the meantime, make a note of these dates for your
diaries.
February 17th and February 18th
2016
Mark Hanretty Components Camp
This is a camp that guest coach Mark
Hanretty has offered very successfully elsewhere since finishing as a skating
pro on Dancing on Ice.
Mark describes himself and the camp
saying;
“I am particularly passionate about improving British
skating to international level and having spent many years training and
competing abroad, I don't believe it's impossible.
Instead I simply believe hard work and mindfulness of the current standard
internationally will make a big difference. I think blissful ignorance to the
standard set by North Americans, Russians and Asian skaters is causing us to lag
behind.
My course covers three golden rules of posture, knee bend and extension.
Thereafter, I
utilise 5 key positions most commonly used in skating
transitions to
ramify the golden rules. Once these fundamentals are
established, I set exercises - with these principles in mind - to music”
This camp is relevant to all skaters who wish to improve their overall skating
and crosses all disciplines. It does not matter how old you are or if you
are not yet competing or even do not intend to compete, the basic principles
offered are the same. The camp runs over two days, however skaters can do
just one day of the camp if they prefer.
This camp is open to all skaters who were BISC members on the January 1st
2016. Sign up is on a strictly first come first served basis as places are
limited.
February 19th 2016
Mark Hanretty Dance Camp
This one day camp
is for Ice Dancers, both soloists and couples and is in addition to the
components camp. Dancers are in the position to benefit from both camps.
Mark is designing a specific dance based day for us.
Again this camp is open to all skaters who were BISC members on the January 1st
2016. Sign up is strictly on a first come first served basis as places are
limited.
Please see Marks’
website
www.markhanretty.co.uk for more general information about him and his
previous camps.
* Please note that this is not an activity camp and
is designed as a training camp for skaters who are committed to improving their
figure skating skills and gaining further knowledge about the sport.
