BISC - Annual Gala 2014

BISC Annual Gala will be held on Friday 26th September, from 6pm – 8pm.


The aim of the Gala is to exhibit member’s recent achievements and successes and to create a line up that spans all ages, disciplines and demonstrates a range of skating abilities.

The Gala will feature approximately 15 solo or small group slots, a free skating group, a dance skating group, synchro, ice ability group, NTC show number and an opening number.

Rehearsals for the group numbers will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evening club ice between September 9th and September 25th. You must be able to attend rehearsals in order to participate.

25/09 All groups to do complete run through + instructions for curtain call; as many as possible soloists and synchro skaters (from the team representing synchro in the gala) to attend so they are aware of curtain call information.


Selection Criteria

All skaters must be members of NISA as the gala is held under NISA permit. Solo slots will be allocated to BISC members who have represented the club at competition between October 2013 and July 2014 based on competition results.

In the case of there being multiple skaters applying in any category priority will go to the highest achieving IJS score. In the case of there being no one applying for a category that slot(s) will be allocated to other categories where there are a surplus of skaters. Allocations will take into account the overall line-up balance of the Gala to maintain audience appeal.

Skaters who have achieved Level 8 in either Dance or Free but have not competed so do not have an IJS score may also apply for a solo slot. However priority will be given to those competing for the club if there are multiple applicants.

Individual free skating

5-6 skaters selected from around these level groups:

·       Beginner- level 1

·       Level 2-3

·       Level 4-5

·       Level 6-7

·       Level 8+

Free / Short Dance

5-6 skaters selected from the following categories:

·       Juvenile & below

·       Basic & Advance Novice

·       Junior

·       Senior

·       Couples

Adult Any discipline – Adult skater committee members to advise on the selection
Free group

To be made up of skaters who have competed for Bracknell in free skating, and/or have reached L4 elements or free. By application from skaters meeting the above criteria, priority will be given to skaters who have not been given a solo slot however if numbers are small then soloists may also participate in the group.

Dance group

To be made up of skaters who have competed for Bracknell in Dance and/or who have reached L4 pattern or Free Dance. By application from skaters meeting the above criteria, priority will be given to skaters who have not been given a solo slot however if numbers are small then soloists may also participate in the group.

Artistic You need to have achieved a medal position in the club Artistic competition.
Opening Number You must be a BISC member during the 2013-2014 season. You must be a current member of NISA You may apply to this group as well as other slots


BISC Gala – FRI 26th September Information For Participants


Timings:

Please take note of the schedule and arrive and be ready to skate in plenty of time. The schedule is approximate and things could run early. The interval will be used to catch up or space out timings as required.

Changing Facilities:

We will have changing facilities available at the rink. However if at all possible please come ready changed, as this will reduce congestion. Some skaters have a number of quick changes so please do not stay in the changing rooms unless actually changing.

Music Collection – Soloists:

Please can you ensure that I have a copy of your music by 5.45pm on Friday at the latest?

Programs:

Please note there will not be a printed program this year. Information about the evening and the skaters is available via the website.

Group Costume Information:

Opening Number

Girls – Please wear black leggings – patterns and sparkles are fine but no large logos – and a plain colourful vest style (sleeveless) top. Hair in ponytails and no boot covers.

Boys – Please wear black skating trousers and a brightly coloured, plain t-shirt.

Free Group

Please wear your own competition clothing and long hair in ponytails. In the boot tights only please.

Dance Group

Please wear your own waltz-style competition clothing as per the dress rehearsal last week. Long hair is to be tied up in neat buns with no scrunchie. In the boot tights only please.
